MTH 115 - Applied Algebra

[3 credit(s)]
Prerequisite: Grade of "SC" or better in MTH 87 or suitable placement-test score. Extension of basic algebra techniques, linear equations, and linear inequalities, an introduction to functions, roots, radicals, exponents, quadratic equations, solution of second degree equations and applications, and the analysis and solution of word problems. Class meetings will be held in a computer laboratory setting and students are expected to use the software on an out-of-class basis to supplement regular in-class meetings.This course does not fulfill the university general education requirement in quantitative literacy.
