NUR 520 - Curriculum Development in Nursing

(3 credits)
Prerequisite: Acceptance into the MSN program and NUR 501 as a pre or co-requiste, or permission of the School of Nursing. The course facilitates the application of nursing and educational theories, concepts and models to facilitate advanced critical thinking in the area of curriculum planning, design, development, implementation, and evaluation in nursing education programs. Historical and philosophical foundations of nursing education are examined. Societal factors influencing nursing education and student achievement are examined. The roles, competencies and expectations of faculty members at a university are explored relative to teaching, scholarship, community service, and ethics.
