CIS 530 - Database Systems and Processing(4 credits)
Prerequisite(s): CIS 506 . Co-requisite: Database systems; their application, advantages, and disadvantages; layered architecture and its physical/logical organization. Relational databases, foundations, and applications. Detailed study of query languages, including relational algebra, Structured Query Language (SQL), Query-By-Example (QBE). Other non-relational systems including the network and hierarchical database models, their data definition and manipulation sub-languages. Data abstraction, E-R models, normalization theory.
