MTH 323 - Statistical Methods

(4 credits)
Prerequisite(s): MTH 182  and a 200-level mathematics course. Course covers issues of data collection, graphical and numerical summary techniques, basic probability, discrete random variables, continuous random variables, central limit theorem, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing of a proportion, hypothesis testing of a mean, 2 sample hypothesis testing, chi square testing, regression.  Appropriate statistical software used extensively. MTH 323 counts toward the statistics minor; one course from MTH 323 or MTH 347  counts toward the mathematics minor, but not both.
