Introduction

The Certificate in Advanced Fundraising is an academic credit-bearing, graduate level program intended for the experienced fundraising professional.  It will offer fundraising executives (with a bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of supervisory experience) exposure to useful concepts that offer a deeper understanding of the context in which they work and the conditions necessary for a thriving fund development and institutional advancement program.  Topics covered in the Advanced Fundraising and practicum curriculum include aspects of leadership and management, decision making, development of professional and volunteer human resources, program planning and assessment, outcomes evaluation and practical problem solving that will be focused on the specific nature of the profession.  Students will work in seminar format set in an executive type schedule for in-class work.  The initial course and practicum will be offered during summer semester for six intensive full-day weekend sessions with work products assigned in between.  Additional sessions may be added dependent upon class size, interest and convenience.  A report out through student presentation will also be scheduled in addition as part of the final performance requirements for the course.  Students may take two elective courses from a selection of nonprofit offerings provided during the fall and spring semesters.
