Civil Engineering, Accelerated 4 + 1 BCE/MCE

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering also offers an Accelerated Program that would enable students to a earn a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree as well as a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 5 years. Students are eligible to apply after they have completed sixty credit hours in their undergraduate program, with at least 30 credit hours earned at CSU. Once admitted to the combined program, the student may complete up to two departmental elective courses (maximum 8 credit hours) of graduate courses while enrolled in the undergraduate program, provided a grade of B or higher is earned in the course.  These two departmental elective courses (maximum 8 credit hours) count towards both the undergraduate degree and the graduate degree requirements, either as electives or as requirements. Students who are accepted for an accelerated 4+1 program may apply or transfer a maximum of 12 graduate credit hours taken while an undergraduate provided a grade of B or higher is earned in the course.   No additional graduate credit hours taken as an undergraduate may be applied or transferred to the graduate record.

Once admitted to the combined program, the student may complete up to 8 credit hours of graduate courses while enrolled in the undergraduate program.  These 8 credit hours will count towards both the undergraduate degree and the graduate degree, either as electives or requirements, depending on course.  Upon receipt of their Bachelor’s degree, students who have a 3.0 or better in their graduate courses will automatically be admitted to the Graduate Program, and have up to 8 hours of graduate coursework (and grades) added to their graduate transcripts provided a grade of B or higher is earned in the course.
