EST 571 - Practicum:Mid Childhood Edu

(3 credits)
Prerequisite(s): Prior application and approval of the Office of Field Services; beyond satisfactory completion of all needed course work, requires attainment of GPA requirements; must be taken concurrently with any of (EDM 513, EDM 515, EDM 516 and/or EDM 517) Structured field experience designed to accompany specific methods courses and to prepare middle childhood education majors for student teaching; stresses practical application of methods and theory with emphasis on the various roles of a teacher. Students begin formulating a personal philosophy for teaching while working four half-days per week in an upper elementary, middle, or junior high school classroom under the direction of a cooperating teacher and a University supervisor; includes seminar. Required for middle childhood teaching license.
