HCA 555 - Analysis of Health Care Market(3 credits) Prerequisite(s): HCA 500 and HCA 515, or permission of instructor; must be admitted as a graduate student to be eligible for this course. This course emphasizes the application of microeconomic models to health service issues and problems. Special emphasis is placed on current policy issues, such as consumer education and the cost of information, and to approaches that address problems or inadequacies in the health services delivery system. Additional emphasis is placed on market structure, industry configuration, and the consequences for quality, cost, and service delivery. Prior course work in microeconomic (price) theory is not required.
