HIS 660 - Social Studies Context I

(4 credits)
Specially tailored for teachers or students interested in teaching. It serves as an introduction to the intellectual framework that undergirds the social studies by focusing on the relationship of the specific disciplinary bases of this interdisciplinary approach. The focus is on specific content areas such as migration or the city within a multi-disciplinary context. These themes are approached from an historical perspective with anthropology, economics, geography, political science and sociology woven in as appropriate. Students are expected to develop a research project tailored to their interests and needs as teachers.
