OSM 814 - Flexible Manufacturing Systems(3 credits) Prerequisite(s): OMS/OSM 511 . Provides the tools for research in Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) and Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT). Topics include recent developments and international comparisons of FMS, long-range strategic and economic decisions, intermediate-range FMS planning problems, short-range operation scheduling, real-time control and planning, and implementation of advanced manufacturing technology. Papers selected from major academic journals are extensively discussed to identify future research opportunities. Each student is expected to write a literature review paper under the instructor’s guidance.
