CVE 709 - Energy Methods In Structural Mechanics

(3 credits)
Prerequisite: CVE 604 or permission of instructor. Development of the principles of virtual work, total potential energy, complementary virtual work, total complementary energy, and Reissner’s principle for solid mechanics problems. Castigliano theorems, Ritz, Galerkin, and finite element methods. Applications in structural mechanics problems for bars, beams, columns, plates, and shells. Offered on sufficient demand.
