HIS 343 - Social History of the Black Death

(4 credits)
Examination of the changes created by the introduction and spread of the Bubonic Plague in a large population. Begins with examination of how diseases are socially, culturally, and historically constructed, then charts the impact of the plague in the first three centuries of its spread. Course analyzes social history of the period and how responses to disease intersected with other Europeanwide developments. This course may fulfill a General Education Requirement.
