SPH 485 - Speech and Hearing Science[3 credit(s)] This course presents scientific notation, logarithms, the metric system, and physics, enabling computation of the decibel, frequency, period, and wavelength. Acoustics, psychoacoustics, and neurophysiology, as well as speech production, respiration, vocal fold and vocal tract anatomy and physiology are discussed in relation to consonant and vowel production. A basic course in physics is recommended.
