ANT 490 - Internship in Anthropology

Prerequisite: A major in Anthropology, Foundations in Anthropology Courses, Anthropology Core Coures, 3.0 GPA in the major, and permission of the supervising instructor. Applicants must submit the filled out and signed Supervisor Agreement Form to the course instructor during the semester preceding the semester in which the internship would take place. Interns work in local organizations and businesses whose focus is relevant to anthropology, where work experience, typically unpaid, is combined with anthropological research and analysis and application of knowledge from the major. A student taking the course for 1 CH will work 30 hours for the semester, for 2 CH, they will work 60 hours, and for 3 CH, they will work 90 hours per semester. Work expectations for each intern are contracted with instructor and the on-site supervisor. Monthly progress reports and other assignments as stated in the syllabus are required. The course can be taken 2 times but only 3 credits can be applied toward the major requirements.
