HCA 510 - Administrative Uses of Epidemiology(3 credits) The study of the distribution and determinants of health, disease, and disability in human populations. Specific topics include principles and methods of epidemiology; the concepts of health and illness and their operational measures; epidemiological techniques used to identify health problems in a community; examination of lifestyle, the medical care system, and the social and physical environment as determinants of health; the multiple responsibilities of public health departments; the application of epidemiological principles to the study of health services use, program evaluation, and quality of care; and population-based approaches to determining health resource requirements.
