CNS 622 - Individual Counseling: Theory & Process[3 credit(s)] Prerequisite: Admission to counseling program, grade of “B” or better in CNS 620 and grade of “S” in CNS 523 or permission of instructor. An overview of the stages of the counseling process and major theories of counseling. Humanistic, psychodynamic, behavioral, and cognitive theories are discussed with attention to research literature and application to diverse populations. Focus is on evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the theories and building counseling skills through class exercises and role plays.
