ACT 360 - Accounting in International Business[3 credit(s)] Prerequisite: ACT 222. A study of the different accounting systems and approaches used in different countries and cultures, and how to use and understand financial statements and financial information produced by such different systems. Designed for International Business majors and other non-accounting majors who desire to learn how to understand and use financial information developed under other accounting systems not following U.S. generally accepted accounting standards. Includes a survey of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and how IFRS rules differ from U.S. accounting standards, and how to read and interpret financial data developed using IFRS rules. Includes a discussion of comparative accounting systems and the process of the harmonization of accounting standards. NOT OPEN TO ACCOUNTING MAJORS. ACT 360 CANNOT BE USED FOR ACCOUNTING COURSE CREDIT TOWARD THE ACCOUNTING DEGREE.
