SOC 550 - Applied Social Research Methods[3 credit(s)] Applied Social Research Methods is a required course for graduate students in the Applied Social Research program. The purpose of the course is to instruct students in the principles and value of rigorous research methodology, particularly in nonacademic settings. The course will cover issues such as how to formulate a research question, how choose an appropriate research design and analytic technique, and how to collect and organize data. The course will include both quantitative and qualitative approaches to research, as well as techniques for mixing them effectively. The course will also cover the process of non-academic dissemination of results and writing research reports for lay audiences and stakeholders.
