Oya Tukel, Ph.D., Certificate Program Coordinator

Introduction

The Graduate Certificate in Global Sustainable Business Practices prepares students with knowledge and skills to integrate sustainable business practices across all areas of a business. The Certificate is intended to prepare a new generation of leaders and practitioners with the skills and tools necessary to lead competitive yet sustainable business practices in today’s global market place.

The World Commission on Environment and Development defines sustainability as “meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.” Sustainable business practices involve social, economic, and environmental strategies that foster the health of our planet.

Program Objectives

The proposed graduate certification program will:

  • Educate the next generation of business leaders in sustainable business practices to make a positive contribution to the well being of our society.
  • Provide opportunities for “real-world” integrated global business learning that prepares students for the demands of the global market place.
  • Engage business school students with a network of public and private sector organizations in mutually productive relationships which benefit economic interests at a national as well as international level.
  • Promote international understanding of economically sustainable enterprises through graduate education and internships.

Faculty Engagement

Faculty research interests reflect both the conceptual and analytical nature of the field. Recent accomplishments include articles published in scholarly and professional journals, presentations at professional meetings, and grants. Faculty are also engaged with industry partners in advancing sustainability in business practices and management education.
