Major-Field Requirements

A minimum of 36 credit hours is required for the anthropology major. A grade of C or better must be earned in courses used to fulfill requirements for the major.

Required Courses

Foundations in Anthropology (9 credit hours)

Both courses required:
ANT 101 - Human Biocultural Evolution
ANT 102 - The Study of Culture
Select ONE of the following two courses:
ANT 100 - Human Diversity
ANT 103 - Rise/Fall of Civilizations

Anthropology Core Courses (12 credit hours)

All four courses:

Area Studies in Anthropology (3 credit hours)

Any course in this category:

Senior Seminar (3 credit hours)

ANT 495 - Senior Seminar in Anthropology (This is our WAC and Capstone Course)

Anthropology Electives (9 credit hours)

Anthropology courses at or above ANT 150. Only one lower division course (ANT 150-ANT 299) may be applied toward this requirement.

Note(s):

No more than 6 credit hours of ANT 496 Independent Study may be used to fulfill requirements for the anthropology major.
