Program Design

The MLRHR program consists of a minimum of thirty-three semester hours beyond the baccalaureate degree. The program is designed to accommodate students who are currently working. While a majority of enrollees are part-time students taking courses in the evening, the program also enrolls many full-time students. Full-time students usually take three semesters to complete the degree.

The program is divided into four components:

Elective Courses

(9 credits)

Students select an additional nine credit hours of 500-/600-level MGT courses to complete the requirements for the degree. Students may also take courses outside of the department, but must be made with prior consent of the student’s advisor.

Practice assessment examination

All students admitted into the MLRHR program after Summer 2004 are required to purchase and take the online HRCI assessment examination in their last semester of study. Scores from this practice assessment examination will be used as part of an ongoing MLRHR program review. Students documenting current PHR or SPHR certification may have this requirement waived.

Internships

Internships are available to students to provide an opportunity to gain practical experience in human resources or labor relations.

Non-Degree Students

Non-degree students are strictly limited to a maximum of twelve credits taken on a graduate non-degree basis. Non-degree students are only permitted to enroll in the following courses: Required courses: MGT 600 MGT 601 , Elective courses: MGT 501 MGT 504 MGT 522 MGT 531 , MGT 577 , MGT 587 , MGT 603 , MGT 604 , MGT 605  (Core course).

  • NOTE: If a student completed any 400/500 level courses at the undergraduate level, please understand the student must select other electives from the list of 500/600 level courses above.
  • The G2WO Program does not allow students to waive electives to selected courses.
  • G2WO students must earn a B or higher in all four courses. The four courses must be completed within four semesters of being admitted.
  • After successfully completing the four courses G2WO students can be admitted into the MLRHR program without the necessity of taking the GMAT or GRE.

Academic Standards

The MLRHR student must maintain an average of “B” or better in all course work attempted. Receipt of a grade of less than “B” in three courses and failure to maintain a “B” average, or the receipt of a grade of “F” in two courses, will result in dismissal from the program.
