Bioethics Certificate

The Certificate in Bioethics will attest that the student has completed a course of study in moral theory and clinical practice, law, or policy related to bioethics. Enrollment will be open to upper-level undergraduates, and others by petition. Both degree-seeking students and non-degree students are eligible.

Required Courses:


The program requires a total of 9 credit hours in bioethics at the undergraduate level, with a grade of B or better in each.

Required Prerequisite: PHL 240 or PHL 428


Students must take either PHL 240 - Health Care Ethics  OR PHL 428 - Bioethics: Special Topics  as a prerequisite before moving on to the elective courses.

PHL 428  will count towards the certificate.
