Twice-Exceptional Education, Graduate Certificate

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: College of Public Affairs and Education

Introduction

The Graduate Certificate in Twice-Exceptional Education consists of five courses, three of which are determined by the background of the applicant, for a minimum of 13 graduate credits beyond courses previously taken for licensure purposes. Because Twice-Exceptional education is the integration of special education and gifted education, this certificate provides a foundation in both fields, followed by teaching implications for teachers when exceptional areas of strengths and challenges are integrated in a singular child. The Certificate in Twice-Exceptionality will designate that a teacher has expertise in integrating gifted education and special education strategies to support the instructional and social-emotional needs of twice-exceptional students.
