Description

The BA program is designed to be a flexible program for students who have a strong interest in film and media but may want to explore other options within the university, or who may want to chart their own course in the FMA curriculum. The BA program allows students to explore a variety areas of film and media, and in total requires the completion of 54 FMA credit hours, compared to 72 for the BFA.

Major Requirements (54 credits)

Students must maintain a 2.25 grade point average in FMA courses, and successfully complete 54 FMA credits to graduate with a BA in Film & Media Arts. Transfer students must complete a minimum of 30 FMA credits at CSU.

Required Core Courses (36 credits)

Students are required to complete the following 12 courses (36 credits).

Required FMA WAC Elective (3 credits)

Choose one required FMA WAC elective from the courses below.

Required Film Studies Elective (3 credits)

Student a required to take 1 course (3 credits) from the courses below.

Required Capstone (3 credits)

Students are required to complete one course/3 credits in the Capstone requirement.

Required FMA Electives (9 credits)

9 additional hours of any FMA prefix courses not used in the other categories

University Honors Requirements

Attain and maintain CSU Honors Program status. Attain and maintain an average 3.5 GPA in all School of Film & Media Arts courses. Students may fulfill the honors requirement by taking a minimum of 9 hours of FMA courses required for the major at the 300 - 400 level as Honors Contract courses (which requires approval of an honors contract petition, signed by both the instructor and the student).

University Scholars Requirements

Attain and maintain CSU Scholars Program status. Attain and maintain an average 3.5 GPA in all School of Film and Media Arts courses. Students may fulfill the scholars requirement by taking a minimum of 9 hours of FMA courses required for the major at the 300 - 400 level as Honors Contract courses (which requires approval of an honors contract petition, signed by both the instructor and the student).
