Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: College of Engineering

The accelerated program in biomedical engineering enables students to earn both the Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and the Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at CSU in approximately 5 years. Students are eligible to apply for the program after they have completed 65 credit hours, typically at the end of the sophomore year (with at least 30 credit hours at CSU), and they have shown appropriate progress in their degree program.

Once admitted to the combined program, undergraduate students may enroll in graduate-level courses. Up to nine (9) credit hours earned at the graduate-level will count towards both the undergraduate and graduate degree requirements.

Undergraduate students in the accelerated program may complete up to eighteen (18) credit hours of graduate courses while enrolled in the undergraduate program.

Admission to Program

  • Students must have shown appropriate progress in their degree program, with a GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • Completion of the application for the graduate program, including a recommendation from a faculty member
  • Enrollment in the Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering program

Program Requirements

Students must maintain a 3.25 or higher GPA to remain in the program. Courses which will be applied to both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees must be taken at the 500 level.

The courses that can be applied towards both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees are any 5xx elective from the approved list of BME electives.
