General Business, B.B.A.

The General Business program supports comprehensive knowledge across primary areas of business, along with open business electives. This major is ideal for working professionals and business owners.

Introduction

The General Business program will require the learner to select one course from a list of courses across the following business areas: accounting, economics, finance, information systems, human resources, marketing, and supply chain, and allow for selection of 9 credit hours of open business major electives for a total of 33 credits. The program will allow learners the option to select one additional credential, such as a minor or certificate, by using 9 to 12 credits of the 33 credits without adding more credit hours to the 120-hour program.

Major Requirements


The General Business major program will require completion a major core and elective core for a total of 33 credit hours. The major core of 24 credit hours will require selection of one course from seven primary areas of business, including accounting, economics, finance, information systems, human resources, marketing, and supply chain and selection of 9 credit hours of 300/400 level business major electives from any discipline.

Academic and Graduation Requirements: The General Business major requires completion of an overall average GPA of 2.0 within the major coursework. A grade of “C” or higher is required for all 33 credit hours of coursework associated with the General Business major. All courses in which a grade lower than a “C” was earned associated with the major major must be repeated.

This is a hybrid program that allows the learner to complete online and on-campus courses.

General Business Major Knowledge Core


Twenty-four credit hours - students must select one course from each core of knowledge to satisfy the General Business Major Knowledge Core.

Students cannot use courses completed to satisfy the General Business Major Knowledge Core to satisfy the nine credit hours of the required General Business Knowledge Elective Core.

Must satisfy with a final grade of C or better or repeat the course.

General Business Elective Knowledge Core


Students must select nine credits of 300 or 400 level courses from any College of Business discipline/department to satisfy the General Business Elective Knowledge Core requirement, and these credits can also satisfy earning a specific business minor or certificate program, but it is not required. Students cannot use courses completed to satisfy the General Business Elective Knowledge Core to satisfy the twenty-four credit hours of the required General Business Major Knowledge Core.

Must satisfy with a final grade of C or better or repeat the course.
