American Sign Language Minor

Myrita Wilhite, PhD/AuD, CCC-A
Chair, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

The ASL minor focuses on deepening students’ understanding of Deaf culture and on broadening and enriching students’ knowledge of and their respect for ASL and the communities who use it. The minor in ASL facilitates the development of cultural competencies in relating to various communities that are part of linguistic minorities both in the United States and globally. The ASL minor complements the education of students across a broad range of majors across the university.
