CIS 610 - Database Systems and Processing(4 credits) Prerequisite(s): CIS 506 . Database systems; their application, advantages, and disadvantages; layered architecture and its physical/logical organization. Relational databases, foundations, and applications. Detailed study of query languages, including relational algebra, Structured Query Language (SQL), and Query-By-Example (QBE). Other non-relational systems, including the network and hierarchical database models, their data definition, and manipulation sub-languages. Data abstraction, ER models, and normalization theory.
