PSY 535 - Clinical Interviewing Practicum

(2 credits)

Introduction to the process of clinical interviewing, including personal issues, role considerations, development of the therapeutic alliance, active listening skills (e.g., focusing, interpretation, confrontation, etc.), and the conduct of the initial interview. Instruction employs didactic lectures, modeling, class exercises, and student role-playing.
