CNS 558 - Mediation and Dispute Resolution(2 credits) Trains participants to resolve disputes as trained mediators. Review of a six- phase process of mediation in which disputing parties isolate critical issues, identify commonalties, generate alternatives, and reach consensus. Focuses on practical skills and the understanding of theoretical and empirical bases of the technique. Includes lectures, demonstrations, skillbuilding exercises, role- playing, and group activities. Application of the procedure to varied settings is discussed.
