NUR 827 - PMHNP Focus III: Care of Children and Adolescents

Prerequisites: NUR 701, NUR 702, NUR 703, NUR 704, NUR 706, NUR 707, NUR 708, NUR 709, NUR 710, NUR 711, NUR 712, NUR 713, NUR 715, NUR 800, NUR 820, NUR 821, NUR 822, NUR 823, NUR 824, NUR 825, NUR 826. Co-requisites: NUR 828. This course addresses psychiatric/mental health of children and adolescents through examination of theories and conceptual frameworks. Different interventions and therapy modalities will be explored. Epidemiological data and research will be examined as a basis to aid in identification of those at risk for mental health issues. By examining child and adolescent mental health disorders and their comorbidities, students will learn to diagnose and treat children and adolescents to improve psychiatric/mental health. NOTE: Students must be successful in companion course NUR 828 in order to receive a passing grade in this course (NUR 827).
