NUR 823 - PMHNP Focus I: Care of the Adult Individual Client

Prerequisites: NUR 701, NUR 702, NUR 703, NUR 704, NUR 706, NUR 707, NUR 708, NUR 709, NUR 710, NUR 711, NUR 712, NUR 713, NUR 715, NUR 820, NUR 821, NUR 822. Co-requisites: NUR 824. This course focuses on the psychiatric/mental health status of the adult client in diverse populations. Included is the impact of psychological, sociological and cultural processes upon the mental health of adults and older adults. Specific theories of mental health and psychotherapy for diagnosing and treating acute and chronic mental health issues in these populations will be examined, with ethical, legal and policy considerations impacting the care of the adult with psychiatric/mental illness. NOTE: Students must be successful in companion course NUR 824 in order to receive a passing grade in this course (NUR 823).
