OTH 710 - Occupational Development Across the Lifespan[4 credit(s)] Prerequisite: Admission to the Occupational Therapy Program. Development across the lifespan, from conception to very old age, is explored. Content focuses on the development of occupation (activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, rest/sleep, education, work, play/leisure, and social participation) and body structure and function (sensorimotor, cognitive, and psychosocial) throughout a person’s life. The role of sociocultural, socioeconomic diversity factors and lifestyle choices are explored as these relate to occupational development. Emphasis is on observation skills, evaluating and analyzing individuals in different age ranges (infant, child, adolescent, middle adult, and older adult).
