MUS 581 - Therapeutic Function of Music II[2 credit(s)] Prerequisites: MT-BC. Admission to music therapy graduate program. Provides an overview of the therapeutic function of music in treating cognitive, behavioral, and social/emotional needs in a variety of populations. This course focuses on increasing understanding of essential music neuroscience knowledge and connecting this research with evidence-based music therapy practice, while promoting higher level, evidenced-based practice skills involving the therapeutic function of music. Students must earn a grade of “B” or better for this course to count toward degree completion.
