MUS 691 - Supervision in Music Therapy

Prerequisites: MT-BC. Admission to graduate music therapy program. In this course, students will develop a greater understanding of competency-based supervision, with specific focus on music therapy supervision. This course focuses on student development theory as it relates to working with undergraduate music therapy majors and interns, as well as the different supervision needs of students, interns, and professionals. Multicultural and diversity issues related to supervision and supervisor effectiveness (including ethics and competency) will be explored. This course requires students to complete 5 clinical hours directly supervising undergraduate field work, plus 5 additional hours of supervision meetings with their assigned supervisee. Students must earn a grade of “B” or better for this course to count toward degree completion.
