COM 361 - Social Issues in News[3 credit(s)] Students get a scholarly understanding of journalism and news. They learn about the social process that explains how news is produced and how social, cultural and political forces shape news. It is a study of journalism as a social institution and explains how a variety of external and internal forces – economic, political, cultural, organizational and technological – influence and shape contemporary news media.
