ENG 315 - Introduction to the English Language[3 credit(s)] Prerequisites: ENG 101 and ENG 102. An overview of the main components of a linguistic description of English and of the history of the language with an introduction to some relevant areas of applied linguistics: language acquisition; regional and social dialects; socio-linguistics; and pragmatics.
