STA 347 - Applied Statistics

Prerequisite: A grade of “C” or better in STA 145, MTH/STA 147, STA 323, PSY 217/311, COM 303, ECN 322, ESC 310, BUS 201, PSC 251, SOC 354, SWK 305, or UST 404. The purpose of this course is for students to learn additional statistical concepts and methodology. Inferential topics include one and two parameter estimation and significance tests, one- and two-way analysis of variance, simple and multiple linear regression. As time permits may include nonparametric statistics, chi-square analyses, blocked analysis of variance. This course will emphasize the applied nature of statistical analysis and require using a statistical analysis software package. STA 347 counts toward the statistics minor; one course from STA 323 or STA 347 counts toward the mathematics minor, but not both; no credit toward the mathematics major.
