MUS 263 - Black Music of Two Worlds[3 credit(s)] A survey course that will focus on three primary areas: an introductory study of traditional music and culture of Africa, an examination of how traditional African music has changed and developed in the western hemisphere and the influence these neo-African musical forms had on postcolonial African music. Attention will be given to the role of music in culture.
