OSM 202 - Introduction to Business Analytics[3 credit(s)] Prerequisite: A grade of C or higher in BUS/OSM 201 or equivalent. This course provides an introduction to the field of business analytics, which has been defined as the extensive use of data, statistical and quantitative analysis, exploratory and predictive models, and fact-based management to drive decisions and actions. Building upon the general knowledge base of basic business statistics acquired in OSM 201, applications of advanced statistical methodology are presented; including statistical methods for rates and proportions, statistical methods for population variances, experimental design and the analysis of variance, the development and validation of multiple regression models, regression model-building, and times series analysis and forecasting. The application of selected advanced statistical techniques to business making situations is illustrated through the extensive use of Excel. Students actively participate in the delivery of this course through case and project presentations.
