MUS 236 - Jazz and Pop Harmony and Form II[3 credit(s)] Prerequisite: MUS 235 with a grade of C or better. The goal of this course is to provide a thorough grounding to the student in the various musical elements in jazz and other popular forms of music during the second half of the 20th century. This will include a knowledge of the uses of harmony, song forms, rhythms, keyboard skills, songwriting and performance. The course is structured along historical lines so a grounding in musicological evolution of popular styles is also provided.
