CRM 347 - Policing[3 credit(s)] Prerequisite: Must have at least sophomore standing to be eligible for this course. Examines the roles of police in American society. Includes theories on the function of law enforcements; the history and development of modern police agencies; the structure and functioning of contemporary issues in policing including police discretion, use of force, and diversity. Course emphasizes a sociological understanding of police agencies as social institutions.
