EEC 449 - Introduction to Machine Learning[3 credit(s)] Prerequisites: ESC 151 or CIS 260; MTH 284 or MTH 288. Machine learning is so pervasive today that you probably use it dozens of times a day without knowing that. It is the science of getting computers to act without being explicitly programmed. Machine learning methods are commonly used across engineering and sciences. In the past decades, machine learning has given us selfdriving cars, practical speech recognition, optimized robot behavior, effective web search. In this class, you will learn about the most effective machine learning techniques, and gain practice implementing them and getting them to work for yourself and apply these techniques to new problems. The prerequisites include being familiar with programming, basic linear algebra, and basic probability theory.
