EEC 493 - Senior Design I[2 credit(s)] BEE: Pre-/co-requisites: Completion of the Core Curriculum Research & Professional Writing requirement, EEC 440, EEC 450, or EEC 470; BCE: Pre-/co-requisites: Completion of the Core Curriculum Research & Professional Writing requirement, EEC 487 or CIS 454 or EEC 484; ME+EE: Completion of the Core Curriculum Research & Professional Writing requirement, completion of the junior year, EEC 440 or MCE 441. The first of two senior design courses, focused on integrating, synthesizing and applying knowledge and skills already gained across the EE or CE curriculum in a real-world setting. Working in small groups, students brainstorm and develop project ideas, examine design options and ramifications, and produce a formal project proposal with commitments on specifications, timeline, costs and deliverables. Through iterations of, and presentations on, project ideas, design options and draft proposals, students develop and demonstrate abilities in critical thinking, group work, information literacy, oral communication, quantitative literacy, and writing.
