UST 303 - Cleveland Nonprofits[3 credit(s)] Northeast Ohio boasts a robust and diverse community of nonprofit organizations that play an integral role in shaping the region’s cultural, economic, and social landscapes. This course introduces students to the multifaceted world of the nonprofit sector. The nonprofit sector is often defined as the segment of society comprised of organizations that operate primarily from altruistic and philanthropic motives, rather than for profit. They can range from grassroots community organizations to large, internationally recognized institutions. The core of their mission lies in public or community benefit. In this course, we will delve deep into the role, impact, and nuances of these organizations, emphasizing the philanthropic, altruistic, and civic undertakings they champion. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and vital contributions of nonprofits in the Cleveland area.
