FIN 475 - Mortgage Loan Origination and Processing[3 credit(s)] Prerequisite: Junior standing or above. This course is aimed at equipping students with a comprehensive understanding of the residential mortgage loan origination process. It meticulously covers the end-to-end process, including effective techniques for taking complete and accurate loan applications, understanding the regulations governing origination and processing activities, navigating loan options, credit reporting, and scoring, as well as mastering the review of supporting documentation, with a heavy emphasis on the appraisal, and tax returns to calculating qualifying income. Students will walk away with an understanding of how origination and processing can assist and conducting risk assessments, and ensure that the loan is properly set up and packaged in order to be handed off to underwriting and hopefully, loan closing.
