ANT 348 - Folklore & Folklife(4 credits) Prerequisite(s): ANT 102 . Course is an overview of the study of folklore and folklife from its beginnings in the nineteenth century when it emerged as an eclectic, interdisciplinary field. Following Geertz’s view of culture as an assemblage of “texts”, the course will examine a complex tapestry of artifactual representations including oral narrative, speech, myth , performance, drama, art, architecture, music, dance and clothing.
