SWK 300 - Social Welfare Policy(4 credits) Prerequisite(s): SWK 201 . Examines the policy-making process in social welfare, from policy formulation and development to implementation and impact. Reviews major social welfare policy developments in U.S. history, such as income security, health care and civil rights. Emphasizes conceptual and analytic models for policy development and evaluation in relation to social work’s commitment to serving populations at risk and promoting global social and economic justice. Students must participate and process a local governmental meeting. This course may fulfill a General Education Requirement.
