CHE 482 - Intro to Combustion Phenomena

(3 credits)
Prerequisite(s): Must have senior standing, and be enrolled in the College of Engineering or be a science major, to be eligible for this course. Develops a foundation in combustion phenomena including transport and other mechanisms in homogeneous and heterogeneous combustion. Environmental implications of combustion. Elementary modeling and preliminary design calculations in industrial and modern applications of combustion, such as hazardous waste incineration, gas turbines, catalytic converters, and coal combustion systems. Regulatory concerns, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, incinerators and air pollution control.
