Educational Administration Program
Specialization leading to a Master of Education degree.
Thirty-three credit hours leading to a degree, plus twelve postmaster’s credits for licensure.
Introduction
The Cleveland State University educational administration and supervision program is based on a conceptual framework of the Administrator/ Supervisor as a Visionary Practitioner. Graduates achieve outcomes reflecting the five knowledge bases that compose this model: organizational change, relational, developmental, contextual, and ethical. These knowledge bases are applied to the programs within the environments of urban and suburban schools, which are culturally diverse and include students with disabilities.
The program enables participants to gain the conceptual, technical, and theoretical knowledge in the human resources area needed to assume principalship or other entry-level administrative positions. Key areas explored in the program are curriculum, supervision, guidance, personnel administration, community relations, school management, and school law. In addition to a master’s degree, a candidate for a professional administrator license must have two years of experience under a provisional or professional license in a public school setting; a State Board of Education examination; an entry-level program; and other requirements the State of Ohio may establish.

Interested applicants should specify the Master of Education, with a specialization in either Principal I (grades PK-9) or Principal II (grades 4-12) on the Application form for Graduate Admission.
